Lyman P. Flower was born April 6, 1816 in Oneida Co., New York.  He was the son of George and Lydia (Pond) Flower.  In 1837, he moved to DuPage Co., Illinois where seven years later, he married Harriet McMillian, June 2, 1844.  Soon after their marriage, they took up residence in Wisconsin to farm.  They were the parents of seven children.   After Harriet died, Lyman lived in Greenwood, Clark County, Wisconsin, with his married daughter, May Boyce and her family.  His death was thought to come by his own hand August 6, 1913 when, at the age of ninety-seven, he was found dead in a stock tank.  He is buried in the Greenwood City Cemetery.
