MR. AND MRS. JOE SNYDER GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Snyder received a very pleasant surprise on Thursday afternoon when thirty neighbors and friends gathered at their home in Greenwood, Clark County. The event was their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

A very pleasant visit was enjoyed by all present after which the guests assembled on the porch and lawn. Mrs. Snyder was presented with beautiful bouquets of flowers, which were well worthy of the esteem, respect, and regard with which Mrs. Snyder has always been held by her many friends.

The bride and groom proceeded to the lower slope of the lawn, where chairs had been arranged. Mrs. Hazel Brown was in immediate readiness and pictures were taken of the happy couple, and also some of the group.

With the use of the porch as an arch, a lawn circle was formed about the porch and the committee in charge served ice cream and cake. The refreshments were enjoyed by all. Mr. J. S. Andrews, on behalf of her friends, presented the bride and groom with an envelope suitable in every respect to a 50th Anniversary. Mrs. Snyder immediately responded and accepted the gift in the spirit with which it was given.

The little home was crowded to its extent. Echoes rang throughout when the many happy congratulations and best wishes for many more years of wedded life were extended. The guests departed all reporting a very fine afternoon.

Lovilla Gardner and Joe Snyder were born and raised in Grant Co., Wis. Here they lived the greater share of their life. They were united in marriage Aug. 2, 1873 by the Rev. S.W. Eaton of the Presbyterian Church at Lancaster, Wis.

Their first home was established at Fennimore, Wis., where they lived for over a year and where the first daughter was born. They later moved to Hurricane, Wis. Here they lived 27 years and 9 children were born to them, making a total of 10 children. Tow died in infancy, leaving 8 living children and 15 grandchildren.

In 1902 they moved on a farm in Clark Co. near Greenwood, and in 1906 moved to their present location in Greenwood.

Although Mrs. Snyder's health has been somewhat impaired for the last few years, best wishes go with them for many more years of happy wedded life.
