Angus John Lamont was born in 1842 on Prince Edward Island,
Canada. His father, John Lamont, was from Glasgow, Scotland -- where the family was likely a member of the Lamont Clan. These family clans are prevalent throughout Scotland and the Lamonts were part of some terrible battles with the Campbell Clans. It is unknown, at this time, if any of John''s ancestors directly participated in any of these territorial battles. John & his wife had 6 children immigrating to PEI, Canada prior to 1842. Angus J. was born on PEI and 3 others were born in Wingham, Ontario, Canada. Whitechurch, Ontario, Canada (about 140 miles NW of Detroit, MI) is where the family settled.
