Weix, John (10 AUG 1877 - 15 MAY 1963)

A mass of requiem was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby, for the funeral services of John Weix, 86. He died Wednesday, May 15, 1963 at Memorial Nursing Home where he was taken on April 9, following a three week stay at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

The Rev. John Pinion officiated at the mass and at the interment made in the parish cemetery.

The pallbearers were Isadore Firnhoefer, Albert Weix, Emil Weix and Frank Weix.

A rosary services Friday evening, held by the Christian Mothers Altar Society was followed by a general rosary services.

Mr. Weix was born Aug. 10, 1877, at LeRoy and was married at Watertown to Mathilda Yahna Nov. 14, 1900. The couple farmed in the Town of Hull (Marathon Co., Wis.) until 1943, when they retired and moved tot he city of Colby. Mrs. Weix died Sept. 16, 1957.

Surviving him are one son, Marzell of Dorchester, and one daughter, Mrs. John (Delphine) Gries of Colby, one granddaughter, Mrs. Lester Miller, and two great-grandchildren, Russell and Susan Miller of Abbotsford.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.

Relatives from away who attended the funeral came from Colby, Abbotsford, Dorchester, Athens, Wausau, Merrill, Antigo, Marshfield, Glidden, Hales Corners, Plainfield, Leroy, Mayville, Watertown, Beaver Dam, and Oconomowoc.
