Ferry, Marilyn P. (24 February 1925 - 7 September 2012)

Marilyn P. Ferry, 87, of Manitowoc died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at the Aurora Medical Center of Manitowoc County.

The former Marilyn McMurtrie was born Feb. 24, 1925, in Milwaukee, daughter of the late David and Laura (Scholl) McMurtrie. She was the third child of nine and attended school in Milwaukee. Marilyn got her first job at the age of 17 working for the Sperry Candy Company and worked in a variety of jobs all her life. Marilyn was married to Clifford Ferry March 27, 1948, in Milwaukee. The couple had four children. He preceded her in death May 14, 1991. During their marriage, the couple owned a grocery store, a shoe store, a bar and many rental homes and apartments they remodeled. Marilyn was always busy working on projects and taking care of her family. She enjoyed listening and dancing to the music of the 50s.

Survivors include her four children, Dan (Sally) Grant, Manitowoc, Gary (Linda) Brandl, Manitowoc, Sharon (David) Mohr, Neillsville, and Debbie Witte, West Allis; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Carol Prevort, Ripon, Vivian Maine, Racine, and Arnie Pillsbury, Waukesha; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Laura McMurtrie; her husband, Clifford Ferry; five sisters, Geraldine McMurtrie, Virginia McMurtrie, Joan Gorsege, Arlene Pillsbury and Judith Gerdmann; one brother Donald McMurtrie; one son-in-law, Bob Witte; three brothers-in-law, Frank Prevort, Bernard Maine and Jim Gerdmann.

There were no formal funeral services. Burial will take place at a later date in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
