Krause, Adelyn #3 (11 JUL 1921 - 24 JUN 1963)

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) in Nazareth Church at Withee for Mrs. William Krause, 42, of the Owen-Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) area, who was killed instantly at 1:44 p.m. Monday when the car in which she was riding collided with a new empty concrete truck at the intersection of a town road and Highway 29, one mile east of Withee.

The Rev. Beryl Knudsen, pastor of Nazareth Church, will officiate at the funeral services and burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

Adeyn Olson was born July 11, 1921 at Baldwin, Wis. and her marriage took place on May 26, 1943 at Rush River, Wis. to William Krause of Thorp. They have one child, a son William, with the Air Force at Amarillo, Texas.

Also surviving besides her husband and son are her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Olson of Withee, and a brother Norman of St. Paul, Minn.

Those who will serve as pallbearers are: Dr. Merle Nason, Adam Michur, R.C. Fisher, Ted Papierniak, Ed Martin and Ed Lehnen.

Mrs. William Krause was a passenger in a car driven by Mrs. Edith Bowler, Route 3, Fort Atkinson. Mrs. Bowler suffered internal injuries, for which she is being treated at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. A third passenger in the car was Mrs. Nancy Gretzinger of Tonawanda, N.Y., who is being treated in the Marshfield Hospital for a fractured arm.

Also hospitalized at Marshfield for severe cuts on his left ear is William Benzin, 34, Route 2, Athens, driver of the truck, which is owned by Kloist, Inc. of Medford.

According to investigating Officer David Bertz, the Bowler car was on route on a fishing trip to the Black River and had stopped for an arterial at the intersection. One concrete truck passed and left a cloud of dust behind it. The Bowler auto then proceeded across the intersection and was struck by a second truck.

The impact overturned the tuck and occupants of both vehicles were thrown to the road.

Auctioneer William Krause and his wife moved to the Owen-Withee area in 1946, having previously lived in the Thorp area.

The death of William Krause Sr. here occurred a year ago, lacking three days, on June 27, 1962, when he died of a heart attack.
