Brewster, Edith (? - 18 June 1967)

Mrs. Edith Brewster, 83, of Hancock, formerly a Shortville resident, died Sunday following a heart attack which she suffered on Saturday, according to word received here.

Mrs. Brewster suffered severe burns about the face, head, arms, hands and upper parts of her body May 6 as she was melting paraffin to seal some jelly she had made. She fell as she started to carry it outside, splashing the hot wax on herself, which burned her so badly. She was taken to Wild Rose hospital, where she was a patient until Thursday night, when a neighbor took her to their home, as her home was badly burned. They took her to a nearby nursing home Friday, where she suffered the heart attack on Saturday and was taken back to the hospital.

She lived in the Shortville area several years before moving to Hancock in 1958. Mrs. Robert Mortenson, Mrs. Frank Short, Mrs. Irving Stevens and Mrs. Ralph Short attended her funeral at Hancock Wednesday. They were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Gear, a neighbor of Mrs. Brewster.
