Garden flowers were on the altar of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Cornell, for the marriage ceremony of Mary Lucille Sauerwien and Robert L. Blazel Jr. on Saturday, July 7, 1962. Father Carl Meyer performed the eleven o’clock High Mass.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Sauerwein, Holcombe, and Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Blazel Sr., Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of silk organza styled with long sleeves and scalloped neckline edged with lace. Her apron effect skirt was also edged with lace. A pearl and crystal crown held her fingertip veil and her bouquet consisted of white carnations and yellow roses.

Turquoise dresses featuring V-necklines and bell effect skirts with lace panels in back were worn by the maid of honor, Margie Blazel, sister of the groom, and bridesmaids, Judy Walters, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Marg Sauerwein, sister-in-law of the bride. White gloves, shoes matching their dress, pearl earrings and daisies holding their circular veils completed their ensemble. Their colonial bouquets consisted of yellow carnations and daisies.

Miss Beth Meistad, cousin of the bride, was flower girl, wearing a white nylon organdy gown styled with full skirt and short puff sleeves. Daisies held her white tulle veil. She also wore white gloves, silver cross and carried flowers like the bridesmaids. Kent Sauerwein, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.

Jerry Jorgensen, friend of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Mike Bogumill, cousin of the groom, and Ken Sauerwein, brother of the bride. Ushers were Mike Sauerwein, brother of the bride, and Bill Stooker, cousin of the groom.

A dinner and reception f0 300 guests were held at the Holcombe Town Hall, where a dance followed in the evening. Miss Dorothy Walter and Mrs. L. cooper cut the cake. Misses Roberta and Barb McRobert served the bridal table. Miss Lynn Cooper was in charge of the guest book and Miss Rita Miller poured coffee.

The bride is a 1961 graduate of Holcombe Public School and is employed in the office of Physician and Hospital Supply Co. The groom is a 1959 graduate of Thorp High School and attended Eau Claire State College and is a telephone repairman with Western Electric, Minneapolis.

The mother of the bride wore a 2-piece aqua blue knit suit with white accessories, and wore a corsage of yellow roses and white carnations. The groom’s mother wore a 2-piece green suit with beige accessories and also wore a corsage of yellow roses and white carnations.

After a wedding trip to the southern part of Wisconsin the couple will make their home at 2615 Clinton Ave. S., Minneapolis.
