Laken, Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Golden - 29 May 1967)

The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Laken of Greenwood was celebrated recently with an anniversary high mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church by the Rev. Aloysius Baumann, at Greenwood.

Frank Laken and the former May Tolaney, daughter of Mary and Tony Tolaney, were married May 29, 1917, at Holy Family Church in Willard, by the Rev. John Kastigar. They farmed on Rt. 3, Neillsville, for 36 years before retiring to Greenwood in the fall of 1953.

Their four children and their husbands and grandchildren attended the celebration. They are: Mr. and Mrs. Matt (Helen) Dergance, Sue and Jim, of Hillside, Ill.; George Laken of Lyons, Ill.; Mrs. Otto (Mary Ann) Berg and sons, David and Larry of Washington, D. C.; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph (Josephine) Verschay and Richard, Mary Jo, Billy and Jeanie, of Greenwood.

Saturday evening a 6:30 supper and party were held at Mrs. Laken’s girlhood home, now the home of her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tolaney at Willard. More than 100 relatives and friends attended.

Those from away who attended were: Mrs. Josie Bradish, Mr. and Mrs. John Laken, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Laken and son, Richard of Ottawa, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jeras and son, Joe, George Laken and Gordon Shafer of Lyons, Ill.; Mrs. Otto Berg and sons, Larry and David of Washington, D. C.; Mr. and Mrs. David Balas of La Grange, Ill.; Mrs. Al Volk of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Klune of Merrill; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Tolaney of Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Isaacson, Mr and Mrs. Tony Perushek and family, Mrs. Dale Schultz and Charles Perushek, all of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Matt Dergance, Sue and Jim, of Hillside, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Al Dergance of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Dergance of Broadview, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. John Tolaney and Tracy of Shorewood; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilhelm and Ann of Milwaukee; Joe Tolaney, Jr., of East Troy; Sister Margaret Ann (Mrs. Laken’s sister), of Baraboo; and Mrs. and Mrs. Jerry Kline of St. Paul, Minn.

Mrs. Laken wore a red rose corsage and Mr. Laken wore a white carnation boutonniere.

Both are members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Greenwood.
