Soli, Henry V. (28 OCT 1902 - 2 MAY 1962)

Henry Victor Soli, 59, a former Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) resident, passed away of a heart ailment on Wednesday, May 2, 1962, at his home in Kulm, N.D.

Mr. Soli was born on Oct. 28, 1902 in Stanley, Wis. He came to Thorp in 1923 and became interested in the Thorp Lumber Co. with his father and later served as manager of this office. He was united in marriage to Margaret Hansen on Aug. 18, 1928. He served as supervisor on the Clark County Board from the Village of Thorp, and also as secretary of the East Thorp Cemetery Association, and was a member of the Thorp Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge.

In 1941 Mr. and Mrs. Soli and family went to Fargo, N.D., where he was connected with the lumber business for years. In 1946 they moved to Jamestown, N.D., and in 1949 to Carrington, N.D., where he worked in the same business. They moved to Kulm, N.D. in 1960. During that time he was a member of the North Dakota Lumbermen’s Association, the Carrington Kiwanis Club and the Carrington Lutheran Church.

Besides his wife, Margaret, he is survived by one son, Robert Soli of Nashua, N.H.; two daughters, Barbara, Mrs. J.R. Grunenwald of Montrose, Colo., and Janis, Mrs. R.V. Krogh of Germany’ two sisters, Valborg, Mrs. H.E. Brandsness of Thorp, Wis., and Inga, Mrs. J.E. Cassell, Ashville, N.C., and one brother, Gust Soli of L’Anse, Mich.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Walt Hummel of the American Lutheran Church of Kulm, N.D. at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 5. Pallbearers were Lloyd Hildebrand, Daniel Malm, Earl Hauff, Jacob Steinwand, Henry Miller and Walter Puhlman.

The body was shipped to the Thorp Funeral Home at Thorp, Wis., arriving on Sunday evening and services were conducted there at two o’clock Monday afternoon by Rev. Robert Olson of the Ev. Lutheran Church and Ray Arndt, as Master of Thorp Lodge No. 264, F. & A. M.

Burial was made in the East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wm. J. Klouda, Dr. G.A. Schief, Walter E. Boelter, Kenneth Lindquist, harry Quell and Wm. S Wagner.

Friends and relatives from out of town who were here to attend the funeral of Henry Soli on Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Magnus Hansen, Peru, Ind., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hansen, Wyandotte, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hansen, Lake Mills, Wis., , Mr. and Mrs. Einar Hansen, and daughter, Lamar, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shea, Mr. and Mrs. C. Sente, Mr. and Mrs. C. Sente, Mr. and Mrs. Belke and Mrs. Etna Giese, Minneapolis, L.G. Olson, St. Paul, Minn., Warner, Mrs. Arthur Hayden and Mrs. Arni Warner, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thorp, Stanley, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Gust Soli Sr., L’Anse, Mich., and Mrs. (the rest of my copy was cut off)
