Wilhelm, William A. (20 JUN 1875 - 10 APR 1962)

The Rev. F. Brockman officiated at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in the city at ten o’clock Wednesday morning, April 18, for William A. Wilhelm, 86, who died of a heart attack at his home in the western part of the city of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) on Tuesday, April 10th, 1962. He was active and in apparent good health.

Mr. Wilhelm was born on June 20, 1875 at St. Killian, Wis., where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage there on Oct. 30, 1900 to Anna Mary Fellenz, who preceded him in death on Oct. 11, 1959. They operated a farm near Cadott, Wis. before coming to Thorp in 1925 and moving on a farm just one mile west of the city in the Township of Thorp.

Mr. Wilhelm was active in township affairs and as Town of Thorp Chairman served on the Clark County Board for several years, and was a member of the school board of the village of Thorp. After his retirement from the farm in 1937 he purchased a home on the west side of the city of Thorp and devoted his time to selling insurance for the Lynn Mutual Insurance Co. He celebrated his fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1950.

Besides one brother Charles Wilhelm of Augusta, Wis., he is survived by four sons, Ray Wilhelm of Los Angeles, Calif.; Leonard Wilhelm of West Allis, Wis., Emmett Wilhelm of Tucson, Ariz. and Eugene Wilhelm on the home arm at Thorp; two daughters, Dolores, Mrs. Al Valente of Milwaukee, and Rachael, Mrs. Rosik of Milwaukee, twenty grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. One daughter, Isabel, aged 7 years, died in 1921, and three brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death.

Interment took place in St. Bernard’s Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers were Alfred Baldeschwiler, Frank Benzschawel, Louis Badzinski, Pat Soderberg and Walter Verkuilen.
