Sollberger, John (15 May 1887 - 18 April 1967)

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home for John Sollberger, 79, of Rt. 2 Neillsville, who died Tuesday at his home.

Officiating will be the Rev. David Witte of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

John Sollberger was born May 15, 1887, in Switzerland, and came to the United States at the age of nine. The family located in Columbia, where Mr. Sollberger had resided since. He did construction work and made forms for dams in his early years. He retired from active farming, in 1963.

On July 1, 1913, he was married in Neillsville to the former Emma Buelow, who survives him.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, Mrs. Lawrence (Frances) Kolbrak of Altoona and Mrs. Elmer (Alice) Hoesly of Marshfield. Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Freda Baumel of Eau Claire and Mrs. Bertha Sherman of Merrillan; two brothers, William, of Rt. 2 Neillsville, and Ernest of Athens. Three grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Sollberger was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Globe.

Funeral services for John Sollberger, 79, of Rt. 2 Neillsville who died April 18 were held Friday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Witte of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Globe officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: William Reider, Ed Mashin, Wilson Bohnhoff, Henry Stiemke, Harry Ambelang and Clifford Winters.

“Beautiful Savior” and “Jesus Christ, My sure defense,” were sung by Immanuel Lutheran Choir accompanied by Mrs. Clarence Wegner.

People from out of town attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hoesly and Carol and Jack Murphy of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. F. Gorell, Mr. and Mrs. William Sollberger; Mrs. Lawrence Kolbrak, Mrs. F. Doescher of Altoona; Ivan Eschenbach, Mrs. Harold Colden of Baraboo; Mrs. Kate Van Horn, Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Fan Horn and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Nelson of Alma Center; Mr. and Mrs. Mashin, Clarence Collins, Joe Horvat and Art Christen, all of Humbird; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thomas of Loyal; Harvey Sherman and Mrs. Bertha Sherman of Merrillan; Mrs. Freda Baumel of Eau Claire; Lawrence J. Kolbrak of DeKalb, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sollberger of Athens; Mrs. Altah Thomas and Geneva Olson of Greenwood; Dan Olson of Milwaukee and Mrs. Hazel Cornwell of Malta, Ill.
