Humbird (30 March 1967)

Spring is well on the way. How do I know? Saturday morning five of the plumpest, big robins were just outside my south window on the lawn happily picking away - ‘til a big purple crackle came and scared them away.

Rain fell nearly all day Easter, and due to the warmer weather and rain, Lake Emerson is at flood stage. W. F. Hein and Cullen Dignin are watching closely the rise of the water.

Among our sick folks: Mrs. Hefty is gaining quite well and soon may come home from the hospital; Mrs. Elgie Hardwick is in the Neillsville hospital, due to a blood clot in her leg; Mrs. Greta Anderson was taken to the Neillsville hospital Sunday morning by her daughter, Mrs. Fred Trachsel, for treatment. It is hoped all may be at home before long and in much better health.

Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Walker have moved into their home here after their winter’s stay in Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. John Martin of Neillsville are moving into the home they bought from Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fitzmaurice and will soon be living there.

Mrs. Belle Mazola, daughter and son, came Saturday to be overnight guests of Mrs. Christine Hanson, and returned Sunday morning to their home in Rozell, Ill. Richard Seelow of Milwaukee was also an overnight guest of Mrs. Hanson.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jarolimek are visiting their son, Ladimer, and family, and daughter, Mrs. Blanche Merlo, in Cicero, Ill., and friends there and in Chicago. They will be gone for about a month.

Mr. and Mrs. Glen Colwell of Hixton visited Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Harriette Gorst.

Mr. and Mrs. Cullen Dignin and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Barr were in Neillsville Friday, where Mr. Barr had a checkup.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Stuve and Mrs. Margaret Martin were in Eau Claire Saturday to see Ulysses Stuve in Luther Hospital.

Mrs. Laura Baumgartner and Mrs. Elsie Holub and five little boys from the Children’s Home at Neillsvilel spent the Easter weekend with Mrs. Laura Baumgartner.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Theiler were in Osseo Tuesday to call on Mr. and Mrs. Van Kirk in the home and found them about as usual. On their way home they stopped for a brief visit at the home of their son, Wm. (Sonny) Theiler, in rural Osseo.

Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Carroll and Greg of Whitewater came Saturday to spend a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Aeschbacher. Sunday William Carroll of Garp Mill joined them for dinner.

Dinner guests Sunday at the Melvin Walker home were Mr. and Mrs. Dick Walker and family and Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Walker.
