Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Leland (Popcorn) (60th - 9 March 1967)

Mr. and Mrs. Leland (Popcorn) Davis will observed their 60th wedding anniversary today (Thursday) at Memorial Home, where they have resided since May of 1966. They expect to serve cake and coffee to friends in the lower wing of the home in observance of the event.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Davis are in wheelchairs. Mrs. Davis suffered a hip fracture in a fall nearly a year ago; but otherwise they are in relatively good physical health.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Davis are widely known in Neillsville and the surrounding area. For many years they operated a popcorn stand in the business section on busy Friday nights, and at special functions going on in the city. In addition, the Davises supplemented their income with a large truck garden during a period of several years when they made their home on West Division Street in Neillsville before going to the Home to live.

The Davises were married March 9, 1907, in Granton. They have made their home in the Neillsville area for the last 40 years or more.

They are the parents of three children, all girls; Mrs. Minerva Viergutz of Neillsville; Mrs. Herbert (Hazel) Stevens of Rt. 1 Bruce; and Mrs. Henry (Elizabeth) Gullickson of White Bear Lake, Minn. There are seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Because of the uncertainty of weather, it was unlikely that the daughters living outside the area would be able to be present for the observance.
