Dusso, Robert R. (14 MAY 1938 - 28 JUN 2012)

Robert Ralph Dusso, age 74 of Eyota, passed away on June 28, 2012.

Bob was born on May 14, 1938, in Clark County, near Greenwood, Wis., to Ralph and Irene Dusso. After graduating from Loyal High School (1957) in Loyal, Wis., he attended Basic Training with the National Guard and then enlisted in the U.S. Army for two years. Bob then transferred to the U.S. Air Force, where he served for over 26 years. On July 27, 1960, he married Kathryn Dollenbacher of Cavour, S.D., in Germany.

Bob was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1983. He worked for the State of Minnesota for over 10 years, and after full retirement he pursued a B.S. degree in education from the University of North Dakota, graduating in 1997.

Bob believed in supporting his community and passed this trait to his children and grandchildren. His greatest passion was for the Boy Scouts, were he served actively for over 50 years as a leader, up to the time of his death. Bob was awarded the Silver Beaver, St. George Emblem, Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor, American Legion Community Service Award, District Award of Merit, Distinguished Commissioners Service Award, Doctorate of Commissioner Science Award, Scout Leader’s Training Award, Scouter Key Award and completed Wood Badge, scouting’s advanced leadership training. Under his guidance and support all three of his sons are Eagle Scouts, along with two of his grandsons.

Bob is survived by his wife Kathryn of 52 years, his children, Robert A. (Darlene) Dusso of Grand Forks, N.D., Nanci M. Dusso of Eyota, James E. (Jennifer) Dusso of Mt. Sterling, Ky., and Michael D. (Laura) Dusso of Rochester, grandchildren Kathryn, Robert F., Zachary, Jessica, Patrick, Danielle, Deziree, Devin, Kirstie, Spencer, Haylee, Shane and Ryne; great-grandchildren, Grace, Ava, Jaelyn, Isabel and Harlee; two brothers, Aryln (Colleen) Dusso of Frankfort, Ky., Gary (Mary) Dusso of Appleton, Wis.; two sisters, Rayetta Dusso of Kimberly, Wis., and Myrna Such of Kimberly, Wis.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Raymond.

A Funeral Mass for Bob is planned for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with Rev. Mark McNea officiating. Visitation will be held at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home on Monday, July 2, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

The family prefers memorials to the Boy Scouts of America.
