Kunkel, Otto P. H. (22 October 1896 - 12 February 1967)

Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 1:30 from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville for Otto P. H. Kunkel, 70, of Neillsville, who died here Sunday. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff will officiate and burial is to be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Kunkel was born October 22, 1896, in Germany. He attended school there and also in Neshkoro. In the spring of 1915 his parents came to Clark County, locating on a farm in the Town of Seif. On July 30, 1935, he was married to the former Ottillie Schoenherr in Rockford, Ill. He served as town treasurer for seven years. In 1955 the Kunkel family left for La Crosse, where they lived until 1962, when they went to Menomonee Falls to be near their daughter. They returned to Neillsville in 1963.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. James (Grete) Riel of Menomonee Falls; a sister, Mrs. William (Emma) North of Neillsville; and a grandson.

Mr. Kunkel was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Funeral arrangements are being made by the Georgas Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church for Otto Kunkel, 70, who died here February 12. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Floyd Short, Alvin and Paul Jacob, Hans Kalsow, Arthur Wegner and Arnold Klauer.

Mrs. Harold Mayer sang, “Abide O Dearest Jesus” and “I’m But a Stranger Here,” accompanied by Victor Lehmann.

People from out of town here for the service were: Mr. and Mrs. James Riel and son of Menomonee Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Klauer and son and Emil Kunz of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Swanson, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Swanson and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Swanson of La Crosse; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Blaney, Larry, Lesa and Lyndell of Kenosha; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Padruth and two children of Cross Plains; Mr. and Mrs. John Shilts and Ruth Schoenherr of Owen; Mrs. Pauline Christman and Marion Christman of Independence, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stiemke of Tomah; and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Sternitzky of Granton.
