Clay Converse took a load of furniture and household goods out to his farm last week Thursday expecting to batch it, so he was most agreeably surprised the next day when his mother joined him there for an indefinite stay and visit.

Geo. King is home from Two Harbors, Minn. with an honorable discharge from the state militia since last week Thursday. Geo. went to La Valle Friday and came home Monday, accompanied by his wife, who was visiting her parents there.

Mrs. A.G. Anderson of the town of Sherwood came home Tuesday after a 3 months sojourn at Morris, Ind., under medical treatment and care, and is to all appearances very much improved in health. Mrs. Anderson and her baby, a little lad of 3 years, drove in from home and met her here.

Frant Osgood is as yet quite under the weather and confined to his bed. His daughter, Mrs. Kearney Davis, is assisting in his care. Mr. Osgood is apparently suffering with a complication of disease and although he is gaining, his recovery is necessarily slow.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Feldbaum of New Holstein, after a 5 day visit at Peter Stallman’s, continued on to Minneapolis Monday. They will visit in Minnesota and Dakota for 10 days and may return here to purchase and take up residence on a Clark County farm.

Mrs. Mary McPherson brought her son Milton back from the Eau Claire hospital Monday, little or no better than when he went weeks ago. They are as yet at the Eagle Hotel, Milton being confined to his bed and under a physician’s care. His sister, Mrs. Strebing of Neillsville, accompanied them here Monday and is since assisting in his care.

Mrs. Geo. Redman of Birchwood Farm on route 4 was in town last Friday on a shopping bent. She reports that she and Mr. Redman are the proud foster parents of a little six year old boy, whom they adopted a couple of months ago, and all are well and especially happy at Birchwood now.

Mr. Mallory went to Unity on Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. John Vogeli of R. 4 were Granton shoppers Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Agin visited Dr. and Mrs. Housley at Chili on Friday.

Adolph Machel went to Marshfield Friday.

Ben Beeckler arrived home from Indianapolis, Ind. last Friday.

John Ferguson was a county seat visitor on Friday.

Ferdinand Reichert was a county seat visitor on Tuesday.

Mrs. A. Martens returned to Chili Monday morning.

Frank Tompkins and his mother autoed to Neillsville Monday.

Mrs. Chas. Brooks visited Neillsville friends Tuesday.

Mrs. Henry Lawson was a Marshfield visitor on Tuesday.

Miss Mary Prust of Chili visited friends here the first of the week.

Robert Petznick of Spencer autoed down from Spencer Friday on business.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Knickle and baby Winifred autoed down from Spencer Friday on a visit to relatives.

Miss Lena Riedel and Mrs. E.W. Crandall were at Eau Claire last week Thursday.

Rollo Welsh was down from Spokeville Sunday to visit his mother and other relatives.

Theodore and Douglas Crandall were over Sunday guests of their grandparents at Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sherman of Chili came over last Saturday on a visit to Mr. and Mrs. John Breese.

Mrs. Leonard Cole returned home from her visit to her parents at Ogdensburg last Saturday.

Miss Leah Reindel and Miss Hulda Schoengarth were Neillsville visitors late last week.

Mrs. Augusta breed visited Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Waterman and other relatives at Chili last week Friday.

Richard Anding of Altoona joined his family here on a visit to relatives on Monday.

Mrs. Grobe, after a 10 day visit at Rev. Reiff’s went home to Wausau on Monday.

The Misses Beulah Lee and Margareth Morris went to Neillsville Saturday evening on a visit to Miss Mildred Kintzele.

Miss Lydia Schier of Route 4 is assisting with the household duties at the W.S. Davis home since late last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Beil and baby Esther of Chili were here between trains last Friday. Paul was on a house buying trip.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Thurk and daughter Martha are here from Clintonville visiting at A.C.F. Witt’s in Lynn since Tuesday.

Otto Uhlhorn of Plymouth is here since Tuesday visiting Mr. and Mrs. David Garbush. Mrs. Uhlhorn is a brother of hers.

The barber shop occupied by A. Lombard is being raised and put upon a stone foundation, and generally tuned up.

Wm. Holway of Merrillan and Miss Ethel Stockwell of Neillsville autoed over from the latter city Saturday evening and visited the Baer’s.

Mr. and Mrs. Will Scholtz and son of the town of Sherman autoed down and spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Lon Stevens.

Mrs. Clara Marsh and children went to Neillsville Friday evening on a several days visit to relatives and old friends.

Miss Josephine Thayer was a Marshfield visitor on Saturday.

Mrs. H.B. Holmes entertained the Circle on Wednesday.

Ben Beeckler visited his brother Geo. in the town of Levis on Saturday.

Louis Davis came home from the west Wednesday night.

Mrs. Frances Woodward spent several days of this week here with Mrs. Baer.

Eggs were down to 28 cents a dozen last week, but up again to 30 early this week.

Mrs. John Breese, Mrs. W.J. Thayer and Mr. and Mrs. Seth Martin visited at Neillsville on Saturday.

Mrs. Albert Jahr, Mrs. George Huntley, Mrs. A. Montgomery, Mrs. Oscar Johnson and son Harvey were Neillsville visitors on Wednesday.

Miss Lottie Paulson, on receipt of a telegraphic message, left for Chicago Wednesday to join a company of professional Red Cross nurses soon to leave for Europe.

Miss Amanda Larson of Route 4 left for St. Paul on a several weeks stay and visit Wednesday. Her mother, Mrs. Ole Larson of Route 4, is at this writing much better.

Miss Gertrude Kimball came down from St. Paul Saturday and visited at W.S. Davis until Tuesday when she continued on to Spooner for a visit with Mrs. Geo. Budge.

Theodore Riedel is home from the Eau Claire hospital since last Friday. His brother Albert went town Thursday noon and accompanied him home.

Miss Jean Davis, who teaches in the town of Unity, reports having had a basket social at the school house last Saturday evening which netted $26.00.

Miss Marjorie Barager, after a 5 day visit here with her sister Miss Iva Barager went home to Stevens Point on Saturday.

Wm. Schaefer went to Marshfield Saturday and brought his wife home from the hospital there. She is convalescing since. Sam Cook drove in and took them home from the depot here.

Harvey Brown of Garden Prairie, Ill., enroute home from a visit at Withee, stopped off her Monday and spent the night with his old friend, Fred Wright.

Mrs. John Dahl and son Ed went to Clintonville Friday and attended the funeral of a sister-in-law of hers. They returned home Monday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Devos were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Erenst Dixon Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Guk and Mrs. Will Neinas were over Wednesday guests and helped Mrs. Chas. Neinas celebrate her birthday.
