Davis, Viola (20 March 1881 - 14 December 1966)

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton for Mrs. Viola Davis, 85, of Rt. 1 Pittsville, who died December 14 in Neillsville. The Rev. Lelan and Rev. Ellen Shaw of the Loyal Methodist Church officiated. Burial was made in Yolo Cemetery, Town of Fremont.

Mrs. Davis, the former Viola Brown, was born March 20, 1881, in Waushara County. On March 20, 1901, she was married to Gordon Davis, who died in 1964. They farmed in the Town of Fremont, later moving to Chili.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Otto (Flossie) Schmidtke of rural Granton, Mrs. Charles (Doris) Schwanebeck of Pittsville, Mrs. Norman (Donna) Freedlund of Pittsville, and Mrs. Richard (Ione) Miller of Rockford, Ill.; a son, Arleigh Davis of Verona; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Holmes of Hancock; and by 23 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Otto A. Schmidtke, Donald Miller, Ivan and Wayne Schwanebeck, Dale and James Freedlund. Organist was Mrs. Leland Garbisch.
