Tomczak, Florence J. (12 SEP 2012)

Miss Florence Juliann Tomczak daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Tomczak, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), of Theodore Stanley Waszek son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Waszek, Chicago, at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church, Lublin on Saturday, Sept. 12, 1961 at ten a.m. Miss Lonna Tomczak sang “The Wedding Prayer” and Miss Victoria Sluzewski sang “On This Day Oh Beautiful Mother,” accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Stanley Hucker.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of imported lace designed with sequins at the bodice, dainty scallops edging the neckline and long tapering sleeves which accented the fitted basque. The bouffant skirt, also of lace, was accented with sequins scattered throughout the skirt. A crystal and pearl crown held her silk illusion fingertip veil. She wore crystal earrings and carried an orchid set in the middle of a cascade bouquet of pink sweetheart roses.

Miss Lonna Lee Tomczak, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor, wearing an orchid dress of chiffon draped in front. Miss Victoria Sluzewski, also cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid, wearing a violet dress of silk organza over taffeta draped in back. Their headpieces were feather hats with veils dyed to match the individual dresses. They wore crystal necklace and earrings which were a gift from the bride, and carried colonial bouquets of white pompons which were accented with an orchid pompon.

Little Lisa Tomczak, 4-year-old cousin of the bride, was flower girl, dressed in orchid and carried a basket of pink rose petals down the aisle.

Stephan Bodnar, friend of the bride and grooms, was best man, and groomsman was Don Tomczak brother of the bride.

A breakfast for the immediate family and relatives was held in the church basement, and a reception for 200 guests was held at the American Legion Hall, Thorp, where a dance was held in the evening. Music was furnished by Emil Kodl and his orchestra, featuring Ted Furmanek as vocalist.

The mother of the bride wore a beige dress and the groom’s mother wore a blue dress, and each wore a corsage of red roses.

The bride attended Thorp High School and Gale Institute, Minneapolis, and is employed as a PBX operator at Sokol and Co. of Chicago. The groom attended Wells High School, Chicago, and is also employed at Sokol and Co. After a wedding trip to norhtern Wisconsin the couple will make their home at 3702 N. Damen Ave., Chicago.

Out of town guests were from Chicago, Ill., Detroit, Mich., Pulaski, Phillips, Gilman, Withee, Stanley, and Lublin, Wis.
