Huckstead, Harold R. (8 September 1894 - 27 October 1966)

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the United Church of Christ in Neillsville for Harold R. Huckstead, 72, of Neillsville, who died last Thursday in Owen. The Rev. W. C. Koehler officiated. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Harold Huckstead, son of the late Herbert and Hattie (Reed) Huckstead, was born September 8, 1894, in the Town of Grant, where he had resided most of his lifetime, and where he was engaged in farming.

He served 20 years as an agent for the Lynn Insurance Company, and was a director of the company for several years, a position from which he just recently resigned.

He was chairman of the United Church building committee; a member of the Reed School Board; vice-president of the Neillsville PTA; secretary of the old Pleasant Ridge Creamery; assessor for the Town of Grant; secretary of the Clark County Fair board for over 30 years; and was the recipient of the first award for soil conservation given in Clark County. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Neillsville.

His first wife, the former Ella Raine, died in 1931. His second wife, the former Erma Loomis, died in November, 1965.

Mr. Huckstead is survived by three children: Mrs. C. H. (Ardith) Murphy of Wausau, Mrs. Richard (Nancy) Nemitz of Grafton, and Lowell Huckstead of Merced, Cal. Other survivors are: two sisters, Mrs. Jess (Dorothy) Scott of Neillsville, and Mrs. Merwyn (Ruth) Beyer of Manitowoc, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Delbert Struble, Art Wegner, Casper Marty, Ernest Vine, C. A. Paulson and Clarion Counsell.

“How Great Thou Art” and “Nearer My God to The Heart of God,” were sung by Mrs. W. C. Koehler accompanied by Mrs. Jack Grether.

Murphy and family of Wausau; Lola Evans and Kathleen Johnson of Mondovi; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Shedden of Manawa; Mrs. Neil Johnston of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Merwyn Beyer of Manitowoc; Mrs. Karen Krueger of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Loomis of Waupaca; Willard Loomis of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Theamore Vine, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Vine, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Rennak of Granton; Mr. and Mrs. George Potter of Vesper; Elroy Broeske of Colby; Henry Ewert of Dorchester; William A. Dankemyer of Chili; and Mrs. Gordon vine of Granton.

The officers and directors of the Lynn Insurance Company attended the service in a body.
