Schwantes, Frances Ida (1 March 1881 - 8 October 1966)

Frances Ida Schwantes, 85, of Colby, died Saturday in Neillsville, following a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. Burial was made in Colby Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. David Pankow officiating.

Mrs. Schwantes, the former Frances Justman, was born March 1, 1881, at Iron Ridge. She received her education in the Spencer schools. On April 17, 1902, she was married to William Schwantes in Spencer. They lived on a farm west of Unity until 1928, when they moved to Coby, where they have resided for the last 38 years.

Mrs. Schwantes is survived by two sons, Maynard of Leon, Ia., and Donald of Neillsville; and a daughter, Mrs. Byrne (Ermine) Neville of Elm Grove. Other survivors are: two sisters, Esther Lamber of Edgar and Mrs. Harry (Lydia) Hermanson of Spencer; two brothers, Walter and Norval Justman of Edgar; and by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
