Bruss, Wilma (1942)

Before a large number of friends and relatives assembled in the Trinity Lutheran church in Spencer Saturday afternoon, Sept. 19, Miss Wilma Bruss, daughter of Herman Bruss of Loyal, became the bride of Norman Krause, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Krause of Spencer. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A C. Stapel before the altar which was banked with autumn flowers. The bride, in a gown of white net velveray, carried a bouquet of white gladioli and babies-breath. Her dress was designed with a sweetheart neckline and long, tapered sleeves. A pearl beaded headdress held her fingertip veil in place. The maid of honor, Miss Lillian Krause, a sister of the bridegroom, wore a gown of aqua-blue organdy, trimmed with lace insets and the bridesmaid, Miss Rhoda Buse of Loyal, an intimate friend of the bride was similarly attired in lace-trimmed yellow marquisette. They wore matching headdresses and had wrist bouquets of gladioli blossoms and babies-breath. Elroy Cramer of Spencer, a nephew of the bridegroom, attended as best man and Leonard Bruss, a cousin of the bride was the groomsman. Clifford Weisman of Stratford, brotherinlaw of the groom, and Elmer Oestreich of Loyal, a brotherinlaw of the bride, ushered. A trio composed of Misses Angeline and Ermine Cramer of Spencer and Caroline Wallner of Marshfield, all nieces of the bridegroom, sang “The Lord Is My Leader.”

About 40 guests were entertained later at a reception and dinner at the home of the bride’s father. Assisting as waitresses were the three nieces of the bridegroom who sang at the wedding and the bride’s cousins, Dora and Louise Oelrich of Spencer.

The out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Herman Krause and daughter, Lillian, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Cramer and family, Rev. and Mrs. A. C. Stapel, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Oestreich and son of Loyal, and Mr. and Mrs. George Oelrich and family of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Weisman and children, Dale and Theone of Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Neuman and family and Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Krause of Beaver Dam; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wallner and daughter of Marshfield and Mr. and Mrs. Allan Nickels and son of Menomonie.
