UNITY LOCAL NEWS

Rev. Harry Lee of Thorp was a week-end guest of his son, Sidney and family. He was forced to spend the week-end here as the road between here and his home had become impassable through heavy rains.

Mrs. Fred Helsten of Rockford, Ill., is he guest of her son, Elmer and family of the town of Brighton.

Joe Hendrickson of the town of Unity is confined to his home this week but all his friends hope that he will soon be able to be out again.

Mrs. Edgar Josephson is convalescing at her home in the town of Unity after a tonsil operation which was performed at the Marshfield hospital recently.

Mads Larson received a letter from his son, Ruben who for the past few years has been employed in one of New York’s banks. He has enlisted in the Army and is now located at Camp Upton, N.Y. for training. Ruben’s many friends in this community are pleased to learn that he is well and that he has taken his place in the armed forces of his country. It has been some years since his friends, and relatives in this community have definitely known his address.

Mr. and Mrs. Forest Johnson were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Gustafson in the town of Brighton Sunday.

Donald Allain and Leonard Reese of Milwaukee are guests of their parents for a few days. Both these boys learned the [remaining text missing from copy.]

Mr. and Mrs. Percy Thayer of Fond du Lac, who have been guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Thayer for the past week, returned to their home Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Thayer were residents of Unity a number of years ago. The gentlemen are brothers.

Miss Genevieve Jordan of Madison spent the week-end at her home here Sunday, accompanied by her father, Frank Jordan, and her sister, Celia, they drove to Wausau where they spent the day with Mrs. Jordan and their little sister, who was born at the Memorial hospital in Wausau, Wednesday, Sept. 16.

It is reported that William Dehn, son of Mrs. Wm. Dehn of the town of Unity, will shortly enter Harvard college at Harvard, Conn., where he will enter the officers training classes for the U. S. Army.

Graham Thayer is now driving truck for the Cody Transportation Co. of Marshfield, engaged in hauling gasoline from Green Bay to Marshfield.
