William E. Bogdonovich, a senior majoring in English, who home address is 304 Begley Street, Greenwood; Jeffery J. Jasurda, a senior majoring in Physical Education – Men, whose home address is 402 North Main Street, Greenwood, and Paul A. Vine, a senior majoring in Physical Education – Men, who home address is Route 2, Granton, were among the 612 candidates to receive degrees at the 70th annual spring commencement ceremonies Friday May 18, 1979 at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. The 4 p.m. program was held at Memorial Stadium.

A total of 561 undergraduate and 51 graduate degrees were conferred by acting Chancellor Carl Wimberly. Seventy-four were honored in the College of Education, 173 in the School of Heath 177 in the College of Arts, Letters and Sciences, 91 in the School of Business, and 46 in the School of Health and Human Services.

A reception for graduates and their guests was held in the Campus Mall following the commencement.

Randy Meyer of Loyal was elected as the second vice president of the State FFA Alumni Association. He will now advance up to the State President in two years. The election was held at Green Lake during the State FFA Alumni meeting on June 12, 1979.

Randy has served as a sectional representative on the State FFA Alumni council since 1974, when the council was formed. He has been very active in helping establish local alumni affiliates in the section which he represented. As a sectional representative he has attended the national alumni convention in Kansas City as a state delegate.

A big birthday cake with the Briski family tree on it representing her sons and daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, was baked by Judy Lobery.

Three students from Loyal received their State Farmer Degrees at Green Lake on June 14, 1979. They were Mark Selz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Selz, Steve Wil.ke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilke, and Daryl Doehr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Doehr. The State Farmer degree is given to only two percent of active members of FFA. It is based on the individual’s farming or occupational experience program, leadership ability, and scholarship.

Daryl Doehr and Dave Selz of the Loyal FFA Chapter participated in the State FFA Convention at Green Lake as members of the State FFA band and chorus. Daryl is a member of the State FFA band and Dave is a member of the State FFA Chorus. They will also be performing at the Wisconsin State Fair in August.

They were selected to band and chorus positions from auditions which were taped and sent in to the director of the Dates FFA band and chorus, Ken Krattiger of Rice Lake.

Richard Noeldner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Noeldner, will be ordained Sunday, July 1, 1979 at 9 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal.

He received his B.A. degree from Dana College in Blaire, Nebraska, and his Master of Divinity degree from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa.

He has accepted a call to serve on the Seward Peninsula in Teller, Alaska, where he served his internship two years ago.

Richard and his wife Dee and son Jason will be leaving for Alaska on July 3.
