Elsinger, John (27 AUG 1876-04 FEB 1960)

John Elsinger, Sr., 83, died at a nursing home in Owen at 11:30 P.M. Thursday, February 4, 1960 of the old age complications.

Mr. Elsinger was born at St. Lawrence, August 27, 1976, and received his education there. He was married to Anne Redig at St. Lawrence October 29, 1901. After marriage they lived on a farm at St. Lawrence for five years. In 1906 they moved to a farm near Spokeville, and in 1942 they moved into the city of Loyal. After retiring from the farm he continued with the insurance business. They celebrated their Golden Wedding nine years ago. While on the farm he was a member of the Mack District School Board.

He was a member of St. Anthony’s Holy Name Society, and Knights of Columbus.

A general rosary was held at the Myre Funeral Home at 8:00 o’clock p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary was held there at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

He is survived by his wife and 10 children, George of Pittsburg. Pa.; Andrew of Gutenburg, Iowa; Lawrence of Dell Rapids. S.D.; John, Jr. of Greenwood; Gerald of Conway, Arkansas; Francis of Oshkosh; Mrs. Thomas (Veronica) Goode, Chicago; Mrs. Richard (Sylvia) Reuter, Marshall, Mich.; Sr. Florentine of Wood Dale. Ill.; and Mrs. Paul (Marion) Reuter, of De Witt, Mich. Also surviving are two brothers, Henry Elsinger, Milwaukee, and Joseph Elsinger, St. Lawrence, and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Katzfy of Slinger and Mrs. Anton (Clara) Schuh of St. Lawrence. Forty grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren survive. Two sons, two brothers, and two sisters preceded hm in death.

A Solemn Requiem High Mass was said in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at 10:30 A.M. Monday. Burial was in the Parish cemetery. The Rev. Andrew Redig of Saukville (Nephew) was the celebrant, the Rev. Norbert King was Deacon, and the Rev. Roger Elsinger, a grandson of St. John’s, Collegeville, Minn., was sub deacon. Pallbearers were the six sons, George, Andrew, Lawrence, John, Jr., Gerald, and Francis. The holy Name Society attended in a body.
