Pink gladiolas, white mums and lilacs decorated the Holy Cross Church, Cornell for the marriage of Miss Melva Jean Buckholz to Raymond Felix Jaskot, Father Carl Meyer performing the ceremony on June 3rd, 1961 at 9:30 a.m.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Buckholz, Holcombe and Mrs. Mary Jaskot, R. 3, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of Chantilly lace featuring a portrait neckline enriched with seed pearls and sequins and long tradition sleeves accented the fitted Basque. Her bouffant skirt was of gossamer sheer tulle with magnificent appliques of lace sparkling with sequins. Alternate tiers of lace and tulle fashioned the back. A Swedish crown of lace trimmed with seed pearls and sequins held her silk illusion fingertip veil. Her bouquets consisted of white roses and carnations.

Irene Szot, sister of the groom, was matron of honor and Rita Birch, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid. Their waltz length gowns of blue silk organza over taffeta were styled with scoop neckline and cummerbund with bow. Each wore shoes to match and carried pink and white carnation bouquets.

Albin Jaskot was his brother’s best man. Ushers were Leo Jaskot and Clem Jaskot, also brothers of the groom.

A breakfast for 50 guests immediately following the ceremony and a reception for 200 guests at 4:00 p.m. was held at the Quonset Hall, Thorp.

The mother of the bride attended her daughter’s wedding wearing a turquoise lace dress and the groom’s mother wore a blue lace dress and each wore a corsage of white carnations.

The bride, a graduate of Holcombe High School and Eau Claire State College is a teacher. The groom attended Thorp High School and is now farming, where the couple will make their home on his farm.

Out of town guests attending the wedding were: Clemence Jaskot, leon Jaskot, Bernard Jaskot, John Jaskot, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lobacz and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jaskot and family, Mr. and Mrs. Mitch Szot and family, Chicago, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Roger Birch, Racine, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Birch, Sr., Chippewa Falls, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. August Buckholz, Curtiss, Wis., and guests from Cornell, Thorp, Holcombe, Ladysmith and Chippewa Falls.
