Robert Vernon “Bob” Daines, 82, formerly of Greenwood, died on Jan. 28, 2012. Burial took place in Grovetown, Ga.

 

He was born on Feb. 8, 1930, in Wisconsin rapids, to Chester and Annie (Nee Brockley) Daines. The family moved to the town of Butler, Clark County in November 1932. He attended the Eastside School in the town of Butler and Breezy Hill School in the town of Worden. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1949. He then enlisted in the U.S. Marines. He served in the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart. Upon his discharge from the Marines, Bob decided to live in California. He joined the Los Angeles Police Department, from which he retired. He later developed Parkinson’s Disease, which led to surgery from which he did not recover.

 

Survivors include his wife, Carmen; a daughter, Lori Murakami; two brothers, Tim and Jim; and nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Marion Warrell; one son, Tim; one sister, Sadie Pavloski; and one brother, Ron.
