Kurasz, Helen Ruth (Marriage - 4 June 1966)

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville was the scene Saturday of the marriage of Helen Ruth Kurasz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kurasz of Neillsville, and Garald Emerick of Tigerton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Emerick of Appleton.  The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff before an altar graced with bouquets of white lilacs and Lily of the valley.

Approximately 175 guests witnessed as the bride was given in marriage by her father.

The bride wore a floor-length gown fashioned with a fitted Basque bodice of Chantilly lace over taffeta, styled with a Sabrina neckline outlined with sequin appliqués. The long sleeves came to a point at her wrists. The bouffant skirt of nylon organza over taffeta was fashioned with Chantilly lace panels at either side and near the hemline. A detachable train of organza bordered with Chantilly lace, was fastened at the back waist by two tiny bows. A pixie hat of Chantilly lace petals and tiny flowers of nylon organza, trimmed with seed pearls, held her bouffant veil of imported French illusion. She carried a crescent bouquet of lilies of the valley, white stephanotis and ivy, centered with a white orchid.

Miss Susan Kurasz, sister of the bride, was her maid of honor.  Bridesmaids were Arlene Emerick, sister of the groom and Kathleen Lau of Merrill.  The attendants wore street length dresses of Peau satin styled with A-line skirts. Their empire waistlines were accented with velvet ribbons. The maid of honor’s dress was blue and the bridesmaids’ were gold and rose. They wore matching bow headpieces, from which bouffant veils cascaded. They carried crescent shaped bouquets of white gladioli.

Dennis Mueller of Appleton was bestman. Groomsmen were Stanley Kurasz of Morrison, Ill., and James Bruyette of Appleton.  Ushers were Mike Myers of Appleton and Edward Kurasz of Neillsville.

The Wedding March was played by Victor Lehmann. Kendall Smith sang, "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "The Lord’s Prayer," accompanied by Mr. Lehmann.

A reception in St. John’s Lutheran School followed the ceremony.

On their return June 11 from a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Emerick will make their home in Tigerton.

The bride is a senior at Wisconsin State University-Stevens Point and is employed as a secretary at the college. Mr. Emerick is a graduate of the school in Stevens Point and is a mathematics teacher in the Tigerton High School.
