Turner, Guy Ervin (24 March 1886 - 21 May 1966)

 

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Guy E. Turner, 80, of Memorial Home, who died Saturday in Neillsville. Officiating at services from the Georgas Funeral Home was the Rev. Jacob Grether.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Guy Ervin Turner, who was born March 24, 1886, in Clark County, attended its rural schools.  He farmed and did construction work until his marriage to the former Verna Clintsman in 1911 in Neillsville. She preceded him in death.  Following their marriage they moved to Watertown, S. D., where they resided for 11 years.  After his retirement Mr. Turner lived in the Humbird area, where he made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Mashin.

 

Mr. Turner is survived by three children, Mrs. Ed (Bernice) Mashin of Humbird, Mrs. Joseph (Vivian) Kopnick of Dubuque, Ia., and Vernon Turner of rural Owen.  He is also survived by a brother, Tony Turner of the State of Oregon, and eight grandchildren.

 

Pallbearers were: Herb Adler, Fred Rupnow, Russell O’Leary, Ray Markloy, Sam Fitzmaurice and Fritz Trachsel.

 

Mrs. Harold Mayer sang, "Nearer My God to Thee" and "What a Friend we have in Jesus" accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Clarence Wegner.

 

People from out of town here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Jerold Mashin of Tomah; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clintsman of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Turner and family, and Terry Morrow of Owen.   People from Humbird were: Mr. and Mrs. William Theiler, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. William Aebersold, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Fitzmaurice, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Lightfoot, Mrs. Herb Green, Mrs. Arnold Matti, Mrs. Archie Kirby, Mrs. Fred Trachsel, Mrs. Conrad Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Mashin; and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kopnick and family of Dubuque, Ia.
