Schade, Emil Frederick (15 September 1877 - 16 April 1966)

 

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Emil F. Schade, 88, of Rt. 3 Neillsville, who died here Saturday. The Rev. David Witte officiated at services from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Globe. Burial was made in Greenwood Cemetery at Amherst.

 

Emil Frederick Schade was born September 15, 1877, in Germany, coming to the United States with his parents. The family lived in Wisconsin and Michigan.  He worked in logging camps and as a millwright.  On their return to Wisconsin they had resided in Milan, Sheridan and Amherst. 

 

For the last 8 years Mr. Schade had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Arnold Hoppa, and family.  Mr. Schade was married June 21, 1905, in Dorchester.  Mrs. Schade died in 1949.

 

Survivors are: three children, Mrs. Arnold (Esther) Hoppa of Rt. 3, Neillsville, Arthur Schade of Klickitat, Wash., and Mrs. Sylvia Austreng of Plover; a sister, Mrs. George (Clara) Schoendelmier of Park Falls; a brother, Albert Schade of Red Wing, Minn.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

 

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst, whose pastor, the Rev. John Mueller, officiated at graveside services there.

 

Pallbearers were: Julius Hagedorn, Herman Dux, William Lueck, Alvin Meihack, Frank Thoma and Ted Mitte.

 

"Asleep in Jesus" and "O Lord, My God, I cry to Thee" were sung by the congregation, accompanied by Mrs. Clarence Wegner.

 

People from away attending the funeral included: Arthur Schade of Klickitat, Wash.; Mrs. Sylvia Austreng and family of Plover; Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Austreng and son, Collin, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Blanke of Wausau; Mrs. Leon Babl of Schofield; Mrs. Michael Dunne and Mrs. Robert Stebe of Waupaca; Mr. and Mrs. Herb Firnstahl of Coby; Mr. and Mrs. Archie Flietner of Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Karl Damrau of Amherst; Mrs. Louis Mielke and Mrs. Jerry Gonering of Marshfield; Mrs. Angelia Harry, Mr. and Mrs. George Blanke, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Lemke and Carol Lemke, all of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. George Schoendelmier and Mrs. James Wheeler, all of Park Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schade and Mrs. Armon Baker of Red Wing, Minn.
