Cleveland, Everett (20 JULY 1906-01 Nov 1958)

 

Everett Cleveland, more commonly known as "Feathers" to the people of Loyal and vicinity was found dead last Friday here in Loyal. He was 52 years old.

 

His friend, Ervin Welch, who stopped in for a visit, found Cleveland’s body suspended from a rope in the living room. Welch notified authorities and Robert Lulloff, Clark County Coroner, ruled that Cleveland had taken his own life. Joining in the investigation were Police Chief Pat Duell and Sheriff Ray Kutsche.

 

Cleveland was born in Stevens Point, July 20, 1906. He moved to Loyal with his parents at the age of six. Four years later his parents moved to Greenwood where they lived for twelve years when they returned to Loyal, where has lived since. He attended the Loyal and Greenwood Schools.

 

He entered the service in July 1942 and was discharged in September 1943. His father died in August and his mother in October last year. Cleveland was a painter by trade.

 

Survivors are one sister, Mrs. William (Helen) Zell, Greenwood, and two brothers, Archie Cleveland, Racine, and Clifford Cleveland, Albuquerue, New Mexico.

 

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m. at the Myre Funeral Home. Rev. Alfred Attwood, pastor of the Methodist Church was officiant. Military rites were performed by the American Legion Post 175. The pallbearers, all legionaires were , were Frank Stange, Chester Smith, Dan Wolters, Percy Voight, Edd Dobbe and George Bentzler.

Peirene, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Herman; Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Art Meinholdt,, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Meinholdt, Greenwood; Henry Marvin, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Archie Cleveland, Racine; Mr. and Mrs. William Zell, Greenwood.
