ELIZABETH SCHAFER SERVICES HELD AT GRANTON


Mrs. Elizabeth Schafer, 89, route 1, Neillsville, Clark County died Saturday afternoon, June 15, 1975 at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville.


Services for Mrs. Schafer were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Granton with the Rev. William Noble officiating. Burial took place in the Lynn Cemetery.


Mrs. Schafer, the former Elizabeth Klein, was born Aug. 26, 1885, in the town of Granton. She was married in 1907, in the town of Grant, to John Schafer, and they lived at Chili and Lynn before moving to a farm on route 1, Neillsville in 1955.


She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John (Violet) Backaus, Wausau a son, Gerald, Neillsville, and one grandchild.


She was preceded in death by her husband, and by two sons and two sisters.

Schafer, Elizabeth (26 August 1885 – 14 June 1975)

A native of the Town of Grant, Mrs. Elizabeth Schafer of Rt. 1 Neillsville, died Saturday afternoon, June 14, in Neillsville at the age of 89. Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Granton United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Noble officiating. Burial was in the Lynn Cemetery. The Gilbertson Funeral Home, Granton, was in charge of Arrangements.

The former Elizabeth Klein she was born August 26, 1885, in the Town of Grant. Her marriage to John Schafer, who preceded her in death, took place in 1907 in the Town of Grant. Mrs. Schafer lived at Chili and at Lynn until about 1955 when she moved to a farm on Rt. 1 Neillsville.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. John (Violet) Backaus of Wausau; one son, Gerald Schafer of Rt. 1 Neillsville; and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers were George Schmitz, Wesley Kuehn, Harvey Johnson, Alfred Riedel, Arno Winter and Roger Grottke.

Mrs. Lee Garbisch was the organist and Mrs. Roger Helm, the soloist, for the service.
