Brown, Maureen Katherine (1935 - 1982)


Maureen Katherine Brown, 46, of Sparta, died early Tuesday morning, May 4, 1982, at her home.

Funeral services were held on Friday May 7, at 1 p.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Sparta. Rev. Al Jakubowski officiated. St. Patrick's Children's Choir sang, accompanied by Sister Genelda on the organ.

Interment was in the parish cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Vernon Ziegler, William Monfort, Harold and Allan Jandt, Edwin Babcock and Dan Hornett.

Maureen Degenhardt was born to Alfred and Lorraine (nee Beaver) Degenhardt on Nov. 12, 1935, at Loyal, Clark County.
She and Richard A. Brown were married on June 21, 1955, at City Point. They moved to Sparta in 1957. She owned and operated Brown's Gifts on Highway 21.

Surviving her are her husband two sons, Norbert of Reedsburg and Dennis of Hales Corners her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Degenhardt of Sparta and her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Kathryn Beaver of Eau Claire.

Preceding her in death were her maternal grandfather and her paternal grandparents.

Lanham-Kann Funeral Home, Sparta, handled arrangements.
