Brecht, Peter, Sr. (1915 - 1981)


Funeral services for Peter Brecht, Sr., 66, of 303 East Second, Loyal, Clark County, were at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 30, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal.


Mr. Brecht died at 9:24 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 26, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.


Officiating at the service was Rev. James Logan. Interment was in the parish cemetery with Wayne Brecht, Mike Brecht, Gregory Gorke, Mark Gorke, David Brecht and Jerome Brecht, all nephews, serving as pallbearers. Rinka Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
An 8 p.m. prayer service was held on Tuesday, Sept. 29.


Peter Brecht was born to Frank and Mary (nee Klinkner) Brecht on May 11, 1915, and was educated at rural Loyal School and St. Mary's
Ridge School.


During World War II he built ships at Sturgeon Bay. He owned and operated hi own moving business in the Loyal area most of his life.
He was married on Aug. 19, 1939, in Milwaukee to Velma Vogel.


Surviving are his wife, Velma one son, Peter, at home three daughters, Mrs. Darwin (Janet) Brasier of Loyal, Mrs. Raymond (Betty) Duerr of Shelton, Wash., and Mrs. Elmer (Marilyn) Redig of Loyal; two brothers, Emery of Loyal and Jerome of DePere, Wis.; one sister, Mrs. Adolph (Margaret) Gorke of Dorchester; and 13 grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
