Seif, D. Dale (1915 - 1981)


Funeral services for D. Dale Seif, 66, of 222 Ayers St., Neillsville, Clark County, were at 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 24, at Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville.


He was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Mary's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., early Monday morning, Sept. 21, 1981. He had been attending an International Harvester showing in that city.


Officiating at the service was Rev. Gary L. Clark, pastor of United Church of Christ. Ervin J. Steiger was the soloist and Mrs. Deon Spangler the organist. Interment was in the Neillsville Cemetery. Kenneth Sherren, Lyle Miller, Herron VanGorden, Wayne Kronberger, Albert Pete Smith and Arthur Drescher served as pallbearers and Milo Mabie, Thaddeus Zajac, Alfred Kleckner, Bradley Larsen, Leland Buddenhagen and Wayne Grap served as honorary pallbearers.


Masonic services were conducted by Wayne Grap and Leland Buddenhagen on Wednesday evening, Sept. 23.


D. Dale Seif was born to Charles E. and Elsie (nee Wood) Sief on July 13, 1915, in Neillsville and was educated there, graduating in 1933 from Neillsville High school. He attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering and then returned to Neillsville and worked for his father at Seif Implement Co. He later formed a partnership with his father and a brother and formed C. E. Sief and Sons.


He became sole owner and operator of the business in 1946, when his father retired. He continued to operate it until his death.
He was married to Mary Jane Nesbitt on April 24, 1938, in Augusta.


He was a past master of the Neillsville Masonic Lodge and past president of the Wis. Implement Dealers Association. He was a member of Neillsville Lodge No. 163, Free and Accepted Masons, Chapter No. 66, Royal Arch Masons Neillsville Commandry No. 36, Nights Templar Marshfield Council No. 39, Royal and Select Masters Carmi Chapter No. 60, Order of the Eastern Star, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Ear Claire the ZOR Shrine and the Neillsville area Chamber of Commerce.


Surviving him are his wife one sister, Mrs. Richard (Gertrude) Hemp of Mosinee and two brothers, Chester of Augusta and William of Rockford, Ill.
Preceding him in death were his parents.


Gesche Funeral Home handled arrangements.
