Carlson, Gene (? - 1981)


Friends in the Loyal, Clark County area were saddened to learn Tuesday morning of the death of a former Loyal resident, Rev. Gene Carlson, of Portage, Wis.


Rev. Carlson was born in Ashland, where he graduated from high school. He was a graduate of Northland College in Ashland and received his B.D. from the Dubuque Theological Seminary in Iowa in 1956. He died his graduate work at Garrett Theological Seminary and the United Seminary in New Britton.


A veteran of World War II, Rev. Carlson served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre in the Philippines.


He served the United Methodist Parishes at Loyal and York Center from June 1971 until June 1977. He had also served in Greenwood.


Services are pending at Ashland, Wis.
