Kauffman, Frona (1894 - 1980)


Frona (Castner) Kauffman died Wednesday morning, Oct. 21, 1980 at Reva, Va. She was buried at Fairview Cemetery at Culpepper, Va.


Frona Castner was born to George and Lillian Castner on Nov. 1, 1894 on a farm southeast of Loyal, Clark County. Her mother died when she was fourteen months old. She lived with her grandparents, John and Lydia Castner, early pioneers of Loyal Township, until their death.


She attended the Loyal schools, taught school in the Loyal area, and was night operator at the telephone office for many years. She was a member of the Loyal Methodist Church and active in the work of the church.


Frona married Ray Kauffman of Loyal in Dec. 1920. They lived in Loyal, Neillsville, Madison and Alexandria, Va.


Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. H.R. (Grace) of East McKeesport, Pa. two sons, Charles (Larry) of Culpepper, and Jerry of Falls Church, Va. three half-sisters, Mrs. Gerald (Jeanette) Jacobson of Marshfield, Mrs. Orville (Edith) Wichman of Loyal, and Mrs. Wilmer (Valda) Coates of Arizona eleven grandchildren, some great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.


She was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother, her husband and two children.
