Kluender, Harry E. (1916 - 2001)


Harry E. Kluender, 84, Neillsville, formerly of Greenwood and Elgin, Ill., died on Friday, April 20, 2001, at the Memorial Medical Center emergency room. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, April 24, at East Dundee Township Cemetery, Dundee, Ill. The Rev. Thomas Nierman officiated.


Harry Edward Kluender was born on Oct. 3, 1916, in Detroit, Mich., to Harry V. and Elsie (nee Peters) Kluender. The family moved to Elgin, Ill., where he graduated from Elgin High school in 1934. He married Eleanor L. Barnes on March 8, 1941, in Elgin, Ill. They lived in Elgin and raised their family, while he worked as a tool and die maker during World War II, for the Rock Island Armory as well as the Elgin National Watch Company. He later worked for McGraw Edison and zenith Radio and Television Co. after his retirement in 1978, they moved to Greenwood, where they purchased a small farm. His wife died on June 25, 1997. He then moved to Neillsville and resided at Whispering Pines Manor until the time of his death. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was an avid member of the Isaac Walton League of Elgin, Ill., where he was a past presidents.


Survivors include two sons, Harry (Susan) Kluender, Deerfield, Ill., and David (Jenny) Kluender, Billerica, Mass. one daughter, June (Jesse) Morales, Parsons, Tenn. five grandchildren and one sister, Lois Bruns, Elgin, Ill.


He was preceded in death by his parents his wife, Eleanor one son, Jim Kluender and one brother, Robert Kluender.


Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
