Stumpner, Paul G. (1903 - 1991)

Paul G. Stumpner, 87, Curtiss, died Thursday, June 6, 1991, in the emergency room at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m Monday, June 10, 1991, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Curtiss. Rev. Dale Seffrood officiated and burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery, Curtiss. His sons served as pallbearers.

Paul G. Stumpner was born Sept. 4, 1903, in Loyal, to John and Alvina (nee Braun) Stumpner. He married Alvira Wachsmuth July 18, 1930, at Owen. They farmed in the town of Longwood until 1950, then farmed in Janesville and later moved to Whitewater. They moved to the town of Green Grove, Clark County, in 1967, where they farmed until 1976, when they moved to Curtiss. He did masonry work, building stone walls for houses and barns. He was preceded in death by his wife Dec. 11, 1989. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include six sons, Eugene Stumpner, Greenwood Dale Stumpner, Stetsonville Edwin Stumpner, Curtiss Kenneth Stumpner, Curtiss Paul Stumpner, Owen and Joseph Stumpner, Owen nine daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Isabelle) Brenner, Curtiss Mrs. William (Kathleen) Ryba, Boyd Mrs. Maynard (Mary Jane) Tracy, Janesville Mrs. Richard (Barbara) Soback, Unity Mrs. William (Jennifer) Schuette, Unity Mrs. Maurice (Linda) Sterken, Whitewater Mrs. Michael (Lila) Thayer Sr., Whitewater Mrs. victor (Carolyn) Smazal, Colby and Cynthia Stumpner, Clinton one sister, Laura Stayton, Port Edwards one brother, Phillip Stumpner, Prairie du Chien 63 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, Marion, in infancy one granddaughter, Diane Brenner one brother, Arnold and two sisters, Dorothy and Anna.

Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, handled the arrangements.
