Ohnemus, Mary (1895 - 1990)


Mary Ohnemus, 94, formerly of Willard, town of Mead, died Sunday, July 8, 1990, at 11:20 p.m. at Neillsville Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 11, 1990, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. Father Roman Kaiser, St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal, officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Grandsons served as pallbearers.


Mary (Frueh) Ohnemus was born Aug. 23, 1895, in La Cons, Iowa. She received her education through the eighth grade in Iowa schools. She married Aloyes Ohnemus on Nov. 23, 1915 at St. Joseph's Parish, Bauer, Iowa. They farmed in the Withee and Willard areas. Her husband died in Aug. 1955. After his death she resided with her daughter in the town of Mead. She had been a resident of the Neillsville Nursing Home since 1987. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard.


Survivors include two sons, Mervin, Fall Creek Melvin, De Rio, Tex. four daughters, Mrs. Lewis (Evelyn) Walde, Greenwood Mrs. Etha Arnstad, Eau Claire Mrs. Leonard (Ethel) Hayden, Eau Claire Mrs. Francis (Elaine) Hansen, Greenwood one brother, Earl Frueh, California one sister, Mrs. Leo (Helen) Bauer, Colby 29 grandchildren 49 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.


Preceding her in death sere her parents nine brothers and sisters, three grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.


Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of the arrangements.
