Moberg, Arvid E. (1890 - 1953)


GREENWOOD, CLARK COUNTY--Funeral services for Arvid E. Moberg, 62, East St. Louis, Ill., who died there Sunday, Feb. 22, 1953, in the Christian Welfare Hospital, were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Methodist Church here. The Rev. Virgil Nulton, Neillsville, officiated and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Mr. Moberg was born June 30, 1890, in Romsjo, Sweden, and came to this country with his parents, settling in Greenwood, at the age of 4. He received his education in the Greenwood Public Schools and also at the La Crosse Business College.


As a young man he worked on the Soo Line Railroad in Central Wisconsin. During World War I he served in the Tank Corps in France. For the past 12 years he was deputy chief of staff of the Disabled American Veterans for Illinois, and adjutant and service officer for East St. Louis Chapter of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans).


Survivors include his wife, the former Lillian Radke, who he married Dec. 5, 1925, in Illinois; three brothers, H. F. Moberg, Abbotsford; J. O. Moberg, Escanaba, Mich.; and E. L. Moberg, Neillsville; and a sister, Mrs. J. E. Cronin, Minneapolis.


A brother and a sister preceded him in death.
