Speich, Jacob (1886 - 1958)
GREENWOOD--Funeral services will be held Saturday
afternoon at 2 o'clock in the United Church of Christ for Jacob Speich, 71, who
died Tuesday evening, July 12, 1958, at his home of a heart attack. The Rev.
Orval Egbert will officiate.
The body will repose at Hill Funeral Home, where friends may call beginning this
afternoon, until Saturday at 11:30 a.m., when the body will be taken to the
church.
Mr. Speich was born Aug. 5, 1886 in Green Co. near Monroe. He lived in Oshkosh
until 1905, when his family moved to the Greenwood area.
On June 12, 1913, he was married to Ida Vollrath of Greenwood, Clark County, who
survives him. After his marriage he lived in Hemlock for two years, then moved
on a farm near Greenwood.
For many years he was supervisor of the Town of Warner. In 1932 he organized the
Greenwood Milk Products and was director for many years. He helped organize the
Greenwood Co-op Oil Company, which he directed until 1957.
He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and Elder of the Salem Church in
Braun Settlement for many years.
Besides his wife, survivors are one daughter, Violet at home three sons, Donald
Speich, Eau Claire Elmer Speich, Watertown; brothers, George Speich, Greenwood
Abe Speich, Ripon Fred Speich, Pittsville Harry Speich, Mineral Point.
Two brothers, Ben and Edward Speich, and two sisters, Lillian and Margaret
Speich, preceded him in death.
