Arp, Emil Gustave (1882 - 1965)


GREENWOOD--Services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Hill Funeral Home here for Emil Gustave Arp, 83, Sanger, Calif., a former resident of the Town of Beaver, Clark County, who died Sept. 4, 1965, at a nursing home in California, where he had been a patient for the past month. The Rev. Carl Booher officiated, and burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery at Withee.


Mr. Arp was born March 16, 1882, in Davenport, Iowa, and was married there Nov. 11, 1903, to Anna Gelhaar, who preceded him in death in August 1949.


In 1912, the couple came to Wisconsin and farmed in the Town of Beaver until 1947, when they went to California. Two years later they returned here, where they resided until the death of Mrs. Arp. Since then he had made his home in California.


Survivors include a son, Charles, Tollhouse, Calif. two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Marden, San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Kenneth (Leora) Dyre, Greenwood nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a sister.
