GREENWOOD MAN DIES AT AGE 85


Greenwood--Services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Joseph Kohlnhofer, 85, of Greenwood, Clark County, who died at 12:40 a.m. on Nov. 17, 1972, at his home following a lingering illness.


The Rev. Leander Koopman, pastor, will officiate and interment will be in St. Mary's Church Cemetery.


Friends may call at the Hill Funeral Home beginning Monday afternoon. A general rosary will be recited there at 8:15 p.m. Monday evening.


Mr. Kohlnhofer was born Jan. 30, 1887, in Germany, and came to the United States in 1904 at the age of 17. He worked in Manitowoc for six years and came to the Greenwood area in 1910. Following his marriage Oct. 26, 1915, at St. Mary's Church here to the former Margaret Schober, who survives him, they settled on a farm 4 miles northeast of Greenwood and resided there until 1949, when they retired from farming and moved into Greenwood.


He had served 16 years as custodian for St. Mary's parish, of which he was a member.


The Kohlnhofers celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in Aug. 1965 and in Oct. 1970 they were honored on their 55th wedding anniversary.


Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Barbara) DeMar, McHenry, Ill. Mrs. Joseph (Magdeline) Kettner, Menomonie and five sons, John, Albany, Ore. Victor, Lake Villa, Minn. Joseph, Milwaukee and Clayton and Francis, both of Greenwood 36 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
