OLE BRAGSTAD PASSES AWAY


Ole Bragstad, son of Anna Olson and Ole Olson Bragstad, was born in Laderoen, Trondhjem, Norway, April 24, 1861 and was united in marriage to Miss Oline Hembre in Norway on Nov. 5, 1887 and they came to America in 1889, and came directly to this community (Greenwood, Clark County). For 20 years they reside in Longwood and two years ago they moved to the city of Greenwood.


Mr. Bragstad suffered a stroke three years and four months ago and another one on Tuesday of last week and passed away at 3:05 a.m. Monday March 24, 1941 at his home, having reached the age of 79 years and 11 months.


Seven children were born to this union, Mrs. Olaf (Mathilda) Sorenson, Mrs. Tobert (Emma) Jackson, and Olaf Bragstad of Milwaukee Mrs. Earl (Olga) Sloniker, Greenwood Oscar of Wisconsin Rapids and Bernard of Dayton, Ohio. One daughter preceded him in death in 1890 at the age of 6 months.


He is survived by his wife and the above named children, two sisters and three brothers in Norway 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon (today) March 27 at the United Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m., Rev. A. E. Norson officiating. The body will be laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.


The pallbearers were Melvin Erickson, Alvin Thorson, Carl Sorenson, Adolph Turnquist, Henry Olson and Peter Johnson.
