OBITUARY OF REUBEN BARTELT


Reuben John Edward Bartelt
, the only child of William and Jenny Bartelt, was born in the town of Mitchell, Sheboygan County, Dec. 19th, 1903 and passed away after a brief illness at his home in the town of Eaton, Clark County on Saturday afternoon, June 1st, 1940.


When nine years of age he moved with his parents to Clark County.


On July 28th, 1927 he was united in marriage to Vivian West, to which union four children were born, Robert, Evelyn, William and Douglas.


During his somewhat short life he proved himself to be a dutiful son, a kind and loving husband and father, a fine neighbor and respected citizen.


He leaves to mourn his loss, besides the sorrow stricken parents, wife and children, a large number of relatives and friends, who will sadly miss his genial character and winning ways.


Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon, June 5th, first at the home, then at the M.E. Church at Greenwood, The Rev. Alex J. Abbott officiating, assisted by Rev. C. R. Gaylord of Stanley. Interment was made in the Neillsville Cemetery.


Pallbearers were Herbert Olson, Neillsville, Fred Behrens, Elmer Johnson, Irvin Fischer, Donald Warner and Frank Drake.
The flower girls were Mrs. Archie Kosas of Loyal and Misses Verna and Grace Caliebe, Alice and Ruth Moldenhauer, Evelyn Drake, Helen Krokson, Margaret Einfeldt, Maxine Sloniker.


Mrs. Herb Schwarze and Mrs. Louis Behrens sang "Just As I Am" at the home and at the church "Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us" and "God Will Take Care of You".


Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Plaster, Chicago Herman Mahlos, Floyd Mohlos, Wm. Mothes, Milwaukee Mrs. Elmer Firmer, Langdon Lake Mrs. Chas. Backhaus, Campbellsport Mrs. Fredrick Miller, Mr. and Mrs. John Siebenaler, Adell Mr. and Mrs. Paul Biekliner, Beechwood Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jeurgens, Mrs. Geo. Griphan, Parnell Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schultz, Dundee Harry Goehring, Minot, N.D. Claud Catlin, Otto Goehring, Mr. and Mrs. Leon West, Mr. and Mrs. Dale West, Loyal Rev. and Mrs. Gaylord, Stanley Mr. and Mrs. Fred Buckholtz, Mrs. Alonzo Morse and son, Christie Mrs. Grace West and daughters, Mrs. Wm. Santos, Mrs. Wm. Jacke Jr. and Mildred West, Neillsville.
