RITES MONDAY FOR FREDERICK WARNKE


GREENWOOD
--Funeral services for Frederick William Warnke, 31, who died of chronic leukemia March 3, 1937 at 7 p.m. at a Madison Hospital, were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Trinity Lutheran Church, with brief rites at the home preceding. The Rev. George Heilman officiated, and interment took place in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Pallbearers were George Zuehlke, Loyal Henry Schendel, Joseph Brauneis, Ervin Rossow, Russell Mead, and Gilbert Meyer.


Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Warnke and son, Elmer, and daughter, Evelyn, Pardeeville Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hessel and son, Abbotsford the Rev. and Mrs. O. W. Schreiber and farmily, Suring Hubert Schultz, Neenah Mrs. Iren Scheidt and Armand Behm, Lomira Mr. and Mrs. Ed Remus, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Pagenkopf and Mr. and Mrs. John Jungkunz, Neillsville Mr. and Mrs. William Lewke and Herbert Klug, Columbus Gust Wendt and Mearle Martin, Marshall and Miss Elmira Schroeder and Carl Schroeder, Lodi.


Mr. Warnke was born on Aug. 14, 1905 in the Town of Eaton, Clark County, and his entire childhood was spent there. When he was of high school age, his parents moved to this city and he attended school here, later being employed in his father's feed mill and warehouse.
In 1929 Mr. Warnke accepted a position as mechanic at the Speich and Braun garage, and remained there until October of 1934,when the disease to which he fell victim caused a complete physical breakdown. Only regular x-ray treatments prolonged his life. Mr. Warnke served as treasurer of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was the youngest deacon of the Church.


On July 14, 1934, Mr. Warnke was married to Miss Louise Lenz at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenwood. She survives him, as does their son, Lawrence, who was born Oct. 9, 1935.


Other surviving relatives include his mother, Mrs. Bertha Warnke, two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Lillian) Hare, Niles, Mich. and Mrs. Paul (Norma) Minsaas, Greenwood and his parental grandparents at Pardeeville.
