MRS. CHAS. STEIFVATER DIED LAST FRIDAY

Mrs. Chas. Stiefvater (born Lena Hecker) died at her home in this city Friday evening, July 13, 1934.

Deceased was born in Manitowoc County, Wis., March 3, 1864, and was united in marriage to Chas. Stiefvater at North Prairie, Minn., in 1887. They resided at North Prairie for five years and then moved to St. Wendel, Wis., and Sheboygan, Wis. In 1907 they came to Greenwood, Clark County and purchased a farm five mile northeast of the city. Two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Stiefvater retired from farming and moved to Greenwood.

Deceased was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of St. Ann's Society. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and a real neighbor, always willing and glad to help those in need.

Mrs. Stiefvater was the mother of nine children, all of whom are living, as follow: Mrs. Arthur Hatfield, Alhambra, Calif. Robert Stiefvater, Manitowoc, Wis. Josephine Stiefvater, Milwaukee, Wis. Joseph Stiefvater, Salem, S.D. Gertrude Stiefvater, Manitowoc, Wis. Mrs. Harold Vandehey, Loyal, Wis. Ed and Geo. Stiefvater and Mrs. Chris Scharenbrock of Greenwood.

She is also survived by her husband Mr. Chas. Stiefvater, one brother, Mr. Jos. Hecker of St. Nazianz, Wis., twenty-six grandchildren and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Church at 9 a.m. Monday, the body laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery, Rev. G. Schuh officiated.

All of the children, with the exception of Mrs. Hatfield of California, were present at the funeral. Others from out of town who attended the funeral were Joseph Hecker, Stephen Stiefvater, Mrs. Jos. Schuler, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Ahl, Theodore Schuler, Mrs. Wm. Pfeifer and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stiefvater of St. Nazianz, Wis. Henry Feterl, Salem, S.D. Mr and Mrs. Conrad Loos, Loyal, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Anton Schneider, Osman, Wis. Nick Winkel, Port Washington, Wis. and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Vandehey, Loyal, Wis.
