STROKE FATAL TO MRS. RUNKEL


Mrs. George Runkel,
79, who has been making her home in the past fifteen years with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Hoehne, succumbed at 4:00 o'clock Monday morning to complications following a stroke suffered six weeks ago.


Mrs. Runkel, whose maiden name was Louisa Dauffenbach, was born Sept. 22, 1852, in Rhine Province, Prussia, Germany, and four years later came to America with her parents. Her marriage to George Runkel took place in Reeseville, Wis., Jan. 25, 1873 and she continued to make her home in that vicinity until after the death of her husband in 1917.


Deceased was one of the best known and beloved women of Greenwood, Clark County. She possessed an unusually kind disposition and had a large circle of friends here.


Mrs. Hoehne is the only surviving member of the family besides four grandchildren and a great-grandson.


Funeral services were held here Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Reformed Church, Rev. E.G. Pfeiffer officiating and on Wednesday morning the body was taken to Reeseville, Dodge County, her former home, for burial beside her husband. Rev. Kuentzel of Reeseville conducted the services at the grave.
