Stanley Welciek, 88, of Thorp, died Thursday, February 4, 1999 at his daughter's home in Iowa City, Iowa.

Stanley was born October 19, 1910 in Racine, WI to Matthew and Theresa (Gcapika) Lasek. He married Mary Wink, September 30, 1936 at St. Bernard's Church in Thorp. He was a Railroad section worker for the Soo Line Railroad for many years. Stanley was a resident of Thorp for most of his life.

Surviving are his children: George Welciak of Minnesota, Annie Wellner of Stanley, WI, Julia Korpol of Hartland, WI, Irene Campbell of West Bend, WI, Jeanne Weise of Iowa City, IA 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife October 16, 1995, 1 son Bernard and 1 brother Joe.

Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 9, 1999 at St. Bernard's St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Thorp with Rev. John Puerner officiating. Burial was in new St. Hedwig's Cemetery, Thorp. Grandchildren served as pallbearers.
